What is Dynamical Neurofeedback?
Dynamical Neurofeedback with NeurOptimal® uses the power and intelligence of your own brain to improve it's function. Training your brain with NeurOptimal is a key part of a wellness program. Many people are training their muscles and cardiovascular systems but are missing the key piece of training their brain. Training your brain can increase flexibility and resilence making it easier to work through the challanges life can throw your way.
NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback is brain training in real time. NeurOptimal meausres the electrical current emitted from your scalp at a rate of 256 times/second and utilizes a mathematical procedure to recognize shifts. When these shifts happen it provides feedback to your brain in the form of interruptions in the music playing. This provides your CNS (Central Nervous System) information about what your brain is doing and uses that information to form new patterns. The more the CNS learns from the information provided the less likely it is to repeat certain behaviors.
Your brain is an intelligent, constantly changing organ which can utilize information to benefit itself. NeurOptimal reads the brain and provides feedback as a whole allowing it to organize itself. Linear Neurofeedback looks at parts of the brain and trains parts to do specific things based on scans and a practioners diagnosis. NeurOptimal is partnering with the brain to make the changes so no formal diagnosis or scans are needed, NeurOptimal and your brain do the work together.
When you come in for a session you will talk with the trainer about any changes you have seen or concerns you may have. Then sensors will be placed on your head and ears using conductive paste. The session will then be started on a tablet and you will sit back and relax and listen to the music. As NeurOptimal senses changes in your brain you will hear brief pauses in the music signaling to your brain what it is doing. Some clients play a game, draw or even fall asleep during their session, there is nothing required of you, just relax!
NeurOptimal is great for anyone looking to optimize their brains performance, there are no age requirements or medical restrictions. NeurOptimal is often utilized by clients looking to improve mental health, mental clarity and cognitive functioning, and those looking to achieve peak performance mentally or physically. NeurOptimal can provide a sense of calm to clients with depression or anxiety. NeurOptimal promotes healthy sleep habits and stress management which can help those struggling with ADHD. NeurOptimal can also improve self confidence and sports anxiety assisting clients in performing at a higher level.
The number of sessions required to see changes differs from client to client. One client may see minor changes in 6-10 sessions, others may require 15-20 sessions. Often times the shifts happen in small increments. Your trainer will help you track and evaluate to see the shifts happening as they can be hard to miss as you are slowly changing over time. Many clients find that the changes last and they don't feel the need to train again after they are finished with their sessions. Other clients feel that they need to return for 'booster sessions' every now and then to maintain results. Every brain is unique!
Research
NeurOptimal and Stress
Clients were asked to fill out an intake form pre NeurOptimal, after 7-10 sessions then after 15-30 sessions. They rated their overall stress level, the the intensity and frequency of their stress level.
NeurOptimal and Focus
This is a study comparing 2 groups of high achieving kids who struggle to focus, one group recieved NeurOptimal Training and one group did not. See the results after only 5 sessions!
NeurOptimal and Anxiety
This study shows how NeurOptimal can help people start using different parts of their brain on a more regular basis to stay calm in situations and have a better attitude toward challenges.
NeurOptimal and FASD
Children with FASD were treated with neurofeedback. After just 5 sessions they saw improvements in mood, motivation and sleep.
